kogepan
I have a customer that have enquired about a bulk order. With the purchase of that size i worry about the brokerage fees that might be charged. Now im not sure what i should do, our store's policy has clearly stated that any brokerage fee are responsible by the buyer. Anyone have suggestions as to how to deal with bulk purchase and brokerage fees? This is a oversea purchase by the way. thanks
Guest
when i ship via ups i notice at least half of my customers are charged some sort of brokerage fee. i almost never hear from them. the best thing to do is to tell the customer in advance or offer a slower method of shipping. usually, the slower methods (are almost never) are hit with extra fees. kogepan
thanks for the tips Ya that happened to us once before. We kindly told our customer about buying bulk COULD result with tax and fees. Then we never heard back from him again. He owned a store and was interested in buying some stocks from us. I have a feeling this will be the same.
Guest
i find a lot of the wholesale requests i receive (people wanting to wholesale my products) are my competition in disguise trying to see if they can squeeze my supplier name(s) outta me (some shop owners just don't know any better so they reveal that type of info at the drop of a hat) you'll find the majority of requests (if you aren't PRIMARILY a wholesaler) the same. if you carry a unique style of product, of course. so in my opinion, the probability of a brokerage fee isn't what's scaring them away. most people overseas know in advance that even buying a small petty item from a foreign country could result in a little bit of brokerage / import fees, led alone giant wholesale shipments. kogepan
o gee, this is getting more strange! So we told him that he should check out about taxes and brokerage fees first then we'll talk detail later. Now he's saying he's willing to pay for shipping by fedex and all BUT he'll send his credit card after we have sent him the goods? Im not sure why he's wasting his time emailing us. Guest
BUT he'll send his credit card after we have sent him the goods? so basically, "i'll pay you after i have my items"? he's out to scam you.
kogepan
well after few more emails. Seems like we got the wrong idea. When he said 'after' he meant after i send him the total cost. Now he cutted down his order but it's still a large amount. Im really worried about getting scammed since he's paying with credit card. any advice? Guest
if you think his order stands out, go with your instincts. most of the time when you think there's a possibility of a scam, there will be. if you don't want to offend him by cutting off all contact and losing a potential sale, you can state there is a maximum order threshold for his area of the world or a maximum order just in general.
