Warning: error_log: Unable to write to log

Problems with logging:

 

Hi, I'm getting this error msg, this is a new installation.

 

Warning: error_log: Unable to write to /home/jshoes/public_html/catalog/admin/logs/ in /home/jshoes/public_html/catalog/includes/application_bottom.php on line 20

Parse Time: 0.236s

 

I have the logs directory chmod' as 777: (what should it be?)

drwxrwxrwx 2 jshoes users 1024 Feb 2 11:24 logs

 

I assume I need a chmod someplace, can someone help direct me?

I have:

-rw-r--r-- 1 jshoes users 1044 Jan 31 17:31 application_bottom.php

Hi, I found my problem, for the log file I had a directory, not a file,

but I still have this question: what value should I chmod the log file?
