no e-mail confirmations for a specific customer

when customers place orders, they get an e-mail confirmation just fine (and also I get a copy to the address I filled in at "send extra order e-mail to") but for one particular custumer it doesn't work and I also didn't get a copy of the e-mail after he placed the order

 

I don't see anything strange about the order. the guy has a gmail e-mail account...could that be the problem?

Not to my knowledge, during store testing and whatnot, I usually use my own gmail account to register with, and it receives emails just fine... Originally I was going to say that if this was just 1 customer then it most likely did go to his mailbox, but got sorted into his junk folder or something by accident, but since you said you didn't receive the duplicate email either... Perhaps there was a problem with the mail subsystem on the server at the time and it just dumped the emails without sending them? Is this a recurring issue for this customer, or is it his first order or first time this has happened?

it is a recurring issue, because the next customer that placed an order had no problems....and then I went to admin and updated his order and checked those boxes "notify user" and "append comments" and still no e-mail to him or me!

 

I initially also thought that my site was temporarily not working, but since I get other order mails RIGHT after I tried this particular customer, it can't be a problem with the mail subsystem, I'd say
