accepting credit card payment

I am just about done setting up my shop. The paypal payment is all done and working.

In order to accept credit card, I entered an email address where the system will email some numbers of the credit card and the rest, it says, well be stored in database.

How would i get the rest of the credit card information if it's stored in database? What method do you use and any suggestion would be appreciated.

For your 1st question --

If you are using the standard CC module that comes with osc and have it set to email part of the number to you and store the other half in the database. All you have to do is log into admin go to the order the credit card number will be listed like 1234 XXXX XXXX 5678. The missing numbers which are XXXX XXXX on the order page in admin will be in that email sent to you with a subject line of "Extra Order Info" unless you've changed it..

 

To run the card you just put the number back together from the email and the order screen in admin.

 

For question #2 --

Yes you will need a merchant account to run the credit card number and receive the payment. Search the boards for merchant account to find suggestions or you can talk with your local bank about it. If you are already using paypal you could sign up to use their viurtual terminal. No terminal to buy you simply type the credit card details into a page on paypal to process the payment. I think it's still around $20 a month haven't used it in some time. We upgraded to a real merchant account not long after dealing with the VT from PP.

 

But you have to have a method to process the credit card payment. Simply turning on the module to capture the information in admin won't cut it. All that does is allow the customer to send you the cc info it doesn't process the payment for you.
