cschnell
Hi all, There is a strange thing happening here... I host a shop in Switzerland, currently only in German language. French Language follows when the owner of the shop has translated the product descriptions. However, he still has some customers from France that use the German interface. Two of them have stated, that they cannot view the products. They can browse the categories but not the products. I don't know what really happens, because I do not have direct contact with them. The whole thing is very strange, because for me, the shop works very good and I couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. Since I cannot check this out myself (no French OS and no French Browser) I would be grateful, if someone from France could visit the shop and tell me, if anything goes wrong. The shop is located at shop.lehmhuus.ch. Please do not place any orders, cause the shop is running in a productive environment. Thanks.

wheeloftime
Bump... Anyone from France here? No bumping please ! My logic says why would 2 customers from France have a problem and me, and probably everyone else who tried from all different countries do not ?! If there is a problem it is not 'French' related but something specific with their computer setup and/or the shop. You really need their specs to be able to say something more specific. Hi I'm in France and able to see the products without a problem. Better ask your customers to give you a screden dump of what they see to help you figure out what's going on. If you need me to look again let me know. Heidi

I looked again and tested your site with two clients, here are the results: Win XP English, Firefox : Site is OK. Win XP French, Explorer : When browsing products by category, you do not see the products, as reported by your customers. The number of products per category is correctly shown in column_left, but you see nothing when you try to display a product category. Hope that helps. Any more questions just ask. cschnell
Dear Heidi, Thanks a lot for testing it. I am totally unsure, what to do about it. It seems to happen only on french Operating Systems, but why, I absolutely cannot imagine. I have installed the French extension french-2.2ms2 but since I display only German language until I have French translations for the products, that *should* be no problem. You don't have firefox installed on your French Windows? Just to be sure that it affects French Systems in general and not only a French IE. [Edit] Now I think I am getting into it: Do you see the shop itself in French? I mean can you see texts like Voyons ce que nous avons-là Il n'y a aucun produit dans cette catégorie. when trying to browse the products? If yes, then osCommerce seems to detect the language of the visitor's system and tries to display the correct language. Since I have installed French and simply disabled the language selector, osCommerce tries to deliver the products in French but finds no discriptions (because I do not have them yet). Can anyone confirm that behaviour? [/edit] Thanks again, Christopher

I'm in France with WinXP, IExplorer in French and I do see your "Quoi de neuf..." as well as your products (the photos of each, assuming as you said the descriptions are not yet online) and can navigate with no problem. Can see both German side of the site and the French "Quoi de neuf part" with IE.
