Category Image Problem

Somewhere a small piece of code must be wrong because I know this should not do this.

 

If I remove the images from my Categories, then the Categories will list down the center of the page correctly. (I have the max. category columns set to 1)

 

However I add images to the categories, then they will not list at all and center will be so wide that I lose all the right column boxes.

 

I have tried changing the subcategory images size in the admin and I get an even stranger problem. It is currently set to 35 pixels high and no width. At 35, I get only 3 categories and images. At 34 or less I get no categories listed. And at 36 or above, same thing, no categories. It only partially works at 35 pixels.

 

This all used to work fine so I know somewhere, something changed and I can't find it.

 

Do any of you where I can look for this problem???
