New store in sub domain?

I'm thinking of adding a new product line that I would like to a new store for.

Let me clarify.. I currently have www.mystore.com and I sell blue widgets. I'd like to add www.mystore.com/greenwidgets and have this be a new store running off a new database and with it's own unique look. This store would only sell green widgets.

Anyone know of any pitfalls to doing this?

Logically I don't see any pitfall in this. Since you will be installing 2 shops. They are as good as 2 independent shop but installed in a common folder.

As long as you keep database separate it should be okie.

But remember once you direct visitor to one shop they may not browse the other shop. You might want to provide link to other shop?

Oh yeah, I was going to do a big banner link from one shop to the other.

I'm also concerned about SEO implications. I'm still learning all the ins and outs, but I am worried that the SEs might not look at the second level site with the same interest as the first level site.
