davidinottawa
It's a Linux based server How stupid - your host should be creating soft links to accommodate for this change. Time to shop for a new host. Well - what pages are complaining ? did you check your config files : includes/configure.php admin/includes/configure.php david

My webhost - www.hostingwitness.com, had a major hardware failure on their servers recently, and so they had to reset the whole server, meaning i had to reupload my whole website AGAIN, so looks like i've got to set up my shop from scratch anyways. I've never known such a stupid unreliable hosting company. Thanks for your help though David. :)
Guest
BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. I am a host and I know people get upset when something happens and trust you me it sucks just as bad for us as it does for you. All hardware will go bad eventually. Especially with high ecommerce sites. It happens don't blame it on the host it is a cost of doing business. That is why you need to backup weekly so you don't loose anything. Most people don't realize that big companies like overstock.com is on a constant backup incase of hardware failure. Everyone wants cheap hosting and tons of space but then complains when something happens. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Thanks for your help David. I've never known such a stupid unreliable hosting company. Mate, I know exactly how you feel. I too use hostingwitness.com, and have never come across such an incompetent company in the industry. I've worked for several hosting companies before, and this stuff just does not happen if you know what you're doing. They offer 99.99% uptime, which allows them less than an hour each year to be down. My site has been down for days at a time with no explanation several times this year already, and many more last year. Obviously with the last one causing my site to be irrecoverably wiped completely. Sorry to be really off topic here, but does anyone know any forums or places where these kinds of things are highlighted? I'd really like to let other people know what they're getting themselves into before they decide to spend money with these people who don't seem to know much about a computer, let alone running a hosting business...
