How Do I Remove "Let's See What We Have Here"?

I don't have a heavily modified store really.

I removed the instances of that line from index.php, but you also say remove it from catalog.php files, but i am unsure of the files you are refering to?

Hello Carl, my solution was only intended for removing the text "let's see what we have here" and other heading text within your shop and replace it with dynamic headings according to your category name.

Do a search for a contribution to remove your category images or follow the advice of "Justme" from a few posts back.

I have done exactly what it says, but now nothing is showing in the category. Check it out: www.nzipodrepairs.com and click on a category..... Any ideas? Can I manually do it as I only have a few categories?

If you added the code that I proposed on the first page of this thread it should already do what you want. That code will dynamically change the manufacturer's and categories name per page. Select one of your manufacturer's links to test it out.

I think this is what you are wanting...

To get rid of "Let's See What We Have Here" for your Categories and Sub-Categories, you can replace them with the name of the categories or subcategories name.

Here is how I hacked the OsCommerce code to do it:

Open the following file in a text editor:

/yourstore/index.php

Do a search for the following line of code:
<?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?>
You will find three instances of each. Do the following:

To see the name of your CATAGORIES instead of "let's see what we have here" text, just replace the first instance of the code:
<?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?>
With the following:
<?php echo $category['categories_name'] ?>
To also have SUBCATEGORIES displayed dynamically as the CATAGORIES above, just replace the second instance of the code:
<?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?>
With the following:

If you want to change the normal 'lets see what we have here' etc. to a standard one. Lok in catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php

Vectran, the issue here in this thread was to "get rid" of the standard or "stock" heading "Let's See What We Have Here" etc. The code above will do just that. :thumbsup:

The Parse error is usally because of bad code containing a missing bracket, wrong or misplaced quotes or an added space that shouldn't be there.

Also, your index.php has been modified from a stock version of osC so the modifications listed in this thread may or may not work for you. Either way, the missing bracket will get rid of the syntax error message.

I'll be Gee Wizzes!!! That change is still not doing anything. There is a bracket on the line before it, but I added it anyway and I still get the same error. I incredibly appreciate your help and tolerance. Thank you.

I think this is what you are wanting...

To get rid of "Let's See What We Have Here" for your Categories and Sub-Categories, you can replace them with the name of the categories or subcategories name.

Here is how I hacked the OsCommerce code to do it:

Open the following file in a text editor:

/yourstore/index.php

Do a search for the following line of code:
<?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?>
You will find three instances of each. Do the following:

To see the name of your CATAGORIES instead of "let's see what we have here" text, just replace the first instance of the code:
<?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?>
With the following:
<?php echo $category['categories_name'] ?>
To also have SUBCATEGORIES displayed dynamically as the CATAGORIES above, just replace the second instance of the code:
<?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?>
With the following:
