Using OSCommerce for shareware (registration)

Hi all,

 

I am setting up OSCommerce for digital downloads.

 

Some content and some software (shareware).

 

Any suggestions / experience with shareware registration schemes vis-a-vis OSCommerce?

If it matters I'm using PayPal IPN (already installed and I am testing the contrib module in the sandbox)

 

Flow:

1 Customer downloads software trial for free from website (mine, download.com, tucows, etc.)

2 Customer purchases product after trial period (I hope)

3 Customer is automagically sent a registration / activation key from OSCommerce after

payment confirmation

 

- or is directed to a small download file containing registration key or some other

magic file that activates the shareware

 

Any pointers at all on good ways to do this would be greatly appreciated.

 

(I love OSCommerce btw - takes a bit-o-hacking but I like that)

Did you happen to ever get this set up? I am looking for the exact same solution.

 

If you didn't end up using osCommerce, I would be interested in what you ended up using.
