Very nice site. Maybe you should just change the background color because it seems to be little out of place with the rest of the shop. I really like the red and header you have, but also the grey seems a little out of place as well. Either then that, your site looks ready to go. Now the real battle begins in getting customers to the site.

Much success and luck in your business venture. Now a question here. How did you get that icon next to your url. I know its called a favicon but I don't know how to do it. Plus, I have seen that icon all over several websites. Where did you get that icon?

Thanks for your comments.

I wanted the background color to make the site kinda stand out. I agree, I need to get another color though.

there was a blank favicon.ico already in the root of my website. It was blank so I just replaced it with this one. to be honest, not really sure where I got it, it was in my website stuff. Happy to email it to you if you like it.

I am going to create my own soon. Just so much to do lol.

The site does look very nice. But,

The logo link opens a new browser window, target="_blank" - wouldn't it be better just to go back to home?

Since you did such a nice job changing the stock icons, you should probably change stuff like "What do we have here?" which overflows into the Manufaturer's pulldown (List yoyos by Manufacturer, Firefox on OS X). The image link for the icon on the right of this page is also broken (it seems like it is undefined). You are also missing an image for the major category of List by Price.

Fix the transparency behind the rounded corners of the stock buttons (or make them rectangular).

Add a phone number and an address (I found an address in the Privacy page - you could add it and the phone number to the contact us page).

Fix the thumbnail image displays so that they aren't distorted (make one dimension 0 in admin/configuration). Or make all of the images square like I do.

Add a header tags contribution and add a thumbnail contribution (your images are very clean and the site does load very quickly, but it may still help).

Change the order and the field names in the my account page to match typical US stuff since you only ship to the US (Post Code to ZIP Code). Remove all of the other countries from the country pull down.

Advertise that you have a secure site and advertise payment methods on the home page.

Maybe change "Top" to "Splash" and "Catalog" to "Home" in your breadcrumb trail.

Great site, good luck.

Does anyone have a recomendation on a thumbnail contribution?

There are alot out there. Many appear to be fairly old and I am not sure they are still compatible.

I intend on installing a contrib. to have additional images on the products.

thanks

Looks slightly stock but great use of the stylesheet - the colour contrast is really good.

What is happening with your product info pages? It's all over the place in this page: http://doodadsweb.com/store/catalog/produc...?products_id=56

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.

Yes it looks good. I like yo-yo shops :D I started to run a test transaction through it. I know the whole Paypal thing is usually a bit confusing for customers who are not used to it but this one really had me beat I'm afraid.

What confuses me is this:

After asking to check out I am presented with the usual request to create an account. That's just standard osCommerce - slightly irritating but pretty common in on-line shopping. But just below it at the same time I am presented with a request to check out using Paypal. That is a very unusual feature and, for someone who is trying to understand the process which is happening, it isn't at all clear The Paypal checkout seems to obviate the need for creating an account with you. After dithering around for 5 minutes I did neither.

How is this supposed to work from the customers point of view?

Thanks

David

Thanks for the comment David. It is confusing. I need to clarify it just haven't thought of how as of yet.

I seem to have a recurring theme in my replies to people. You must focus on SEO to make money. I think the site looks great and you have a niche product.

You need to get noticed for your site. The image on your root looks nice but I think your store looks nicer.

I would move the store to the root add SEO URL's and remove sid's and then focus on keywords where you want to rank.

I would then focus a text link campaign to all the directories you can find using your keywords as anchor text.

Thanks for the comments and advice. I have moved the store to root, I think I have solved all but one of the issues that happened during the move (admin .htaccess had a bad link, config file typo that drove me batty).

I have downloaded a SEO contrib and am looking at it now.

I know what text link and anchorr links are but could you explain a campaign for them?
