marleyman
Hi, I have a client who wants an oscommerce site but who can only provide me with a .csv file that he exported from his current eccomerce site hosted at www.netcera.com (They only allow export of .csv not .sql) The file is HUGE! Doe anyone know of any tool/product out there that can possibly help me to manipulate and clean up is .csv file so that I can "easily" import it into his oscommerce database? Here is an example of what his file looks like: "3-CHE","CALENDARS","POLITICAL & PEACE","Che Guevara Calendar: Be Realistic.","<p>Be Realistic, Try the Impossible. Che Guevara (1928-1967) and growing more popular every year. Great art in the spirit of Ché. Published in Germany. 2007 Edition Now in Stock! $12.95. </p>","5210","12718","12.95","7.77","1","1","0","0","0","0","0","0","0",,"2005-04-07 01:49:58","141.154.181.189" If he didn't have SO MANY products to import into oscommerce I wouldn't be such a baby about it. Thanks for any help out there.
Guest
There is a contribution called EasyPopulate that will let you upload your csv. Install it and download a test spreadsheet so you can see the table headers, copy the information from you current csv into it, but do not change the format of the downloaded spreadsheet (column names). You can then upload the whole thing at once. If there are a lot of records you will want to use the split function included in the contribution. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,

However it won't always import fresh products. I can download change and reload okay, but if I add an extra line (product) it comes up with an error. Perhaps if a virgin store was setup with only EP added, it may be possible to create the database ready to install in to the store proper. ____________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________
Iggy
I find that the easiest method (easy being subjective here) for me to bring a database across to a new version of osC from old or modified is to import the information to a new database and then compare the two side by side, table by table in phpMyAdmin; syncing the fields up as I go. Then export the table(s) from the old db and import to the new and test, test, test. It's time-consuming, laborious and you have to be meticulous (make sure you're wide awake and have a pot of coffee handy) but works every time. Hope that helps, Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...
