MattEnderle
I would like to setup a shopping cart that will not require a merchant gateway but simply store the credit card numbers to the order and allow me to process them manually since the store will not get that many orders. Once they are processed the credit card number will come out of the database. Please let me know if osCommerce can handle this? Thanks.

MattEnderle
Remember there is additonal risk involved with this. Yes I agree - I will probably try to obtain a SSL cert to at least protect it to the server and then they will remain in there for no more than 1 business day and then come out of the database. Thanks for the information everyone. I will play with it tommorow.

Thanks for the information everyone. I will play with it tommorow. SSL does not "protect it on the server". It merely encrypts the data as it passes between a users browser and your webserver. The credit card module stores unencrypted, plain text credit card numbers in the ORDERS database table. You should avoid using it for this very reason. If you are hacked and someone runs off with all the numbers you are in big trouble.
