I am super new at this so hope you can bear with me :D I've also searched the forums about this prior to posting but no luck.

On my main page I am trying to replace the text marked with the arrow:

forums01.gif

However, when I try and change it here (in index.php) ...

forums02.gif

... I wipe the whole page.

Which file do I go to in File Manager or admin tools to add text? Thanks so much for your help.

Oops! :)

includes/languages/english/index.php

Line 37 define('HEADING_TITLE', 'What\'s New Here?');

What did you put in place of What\'s New Here?

It's all just ones and zeros....

Hi jon - thanks for replying so quickly :) .

I can't remember what exactly - it was just a line of welcome to the site. And I added the text between the ' and '.

Edit: I do have the page back of course. I didn't save the wipe accidently lol...

And the "What's New Here" wasn't put there by me - it was part of the page when we first got it to edit. When I deleted "Error Messages" and "Editing Text Messages" stuff that was on there (demo page), it looked fine but still retained the "What's New Here?" text.

Let me try again!

What did you put in place of the stock osCommerce What\'s New Here? Can you post it please?

Jon, as I said I'm totally new to this.

What did you put in place of the stock osCommerce What\'s New Here?

Just some trial text. I exited without saving and the page is back the way it is now, here.

I have no idea what the "What's New Here?" code means or whether it's stock or whatever. I just need to know where (in what file in my File Manager and exactly where in the code) to add a welcome blurb and if I can delete the "What's New Here?" text (if it is that) and replace it.

You can replace What\'s new here? with anything you like. In this same file, line 13 is where you can define the text you want to appear above the What's New products on your store's home page. Be sure anywhere you have an apostrophe (') in the defined text that you precede with with a backslash.

This documentation http://www.oscommerce.info/docs/english/ may also be of interest to ya :)

Thanks so much jon for your help. Much appreciated.

I'm off to work on it and thanks for the link :) May be back with more questions but glad for any help so far.

Just worked out what I was doing wrong - found another thread re my exact problem and it really helped. Forgot to put the backslash in Women's Business - "Women\'s Business".

I am totally stoked. How cool is this. I feel another addiction coming on. I'm an html addict but php, here I come....
