toyzonline Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Hi Guys, I am currently with a host that I decided to go for because they offered a decent support. However several months later with a few problems and I have over 3000 products in my catalogue and I have had enough of waiting for the support. Therefore I need to move hosts however want to do this with as little interuption as possible. Is it easy to do? And here are a couple more questions: 1) Would I have to install all contributions again? 2) Part of the issue I have is that after requesting a backup to be completed of the entire lot, they put ontop of the current and I was using double webspace and some of the file structure was incorrect. If there is a way of transferring the contributions as well will this not duplicate the issues What could be a solution to the above is the fix of what could be one simple issue. They told me to change the header to go to catalog/includes/imageslogo.jpg I must of done this when I put up a place header, however when coming to change this after a few contributions there is no such path as cataloig/includes/images. I did find the logo simply in catalog/images and replaced it, however I just get the red cross now regardless of new or old header (www.toyzonline.biz) Any ideas? spax Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 No, you won't need to install all the mods again. You may get some errors if the two servers are set up differently and your installed contributions are dependant on something your old server had, that your new server doesn't. Register Globals enabled for example or mod_rewrite maybe. All you need to do is download a complete backup of your store - which you should do anyway - and upload it to your new server. The only changes you'll need to make, are to the two configure files. To reflect the new paths to your new domain/store. Obviously make a database backup from your admin before downloading the entire backup to your PC. You can transfer direct but it is best to have a copy on your hard drive anyway. I'm not sure what the problem is with your logo, maybe it was corrupt during upload. I would delete it and upload it again.

The problem with complete back up is as follows: 1) For speed I would probably be using a new domain so all the files would be pointing to the wrong domain 2) Surely the logo problem would duplicate itself? I have deleted and tried several different logos and they all do the same? Complete Newbie On The Learn - Not A Programmer But Learning As I Go
spax Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 1, No they wouldn't The only changes you'll need to make, are to the two configure files. To reflect the new paths to your new domain/store. 2, Like I said, I'm not sure what the problem is as the path to the image is correct - other than it not having the www showing, which shouldn't affect it. logo.jpg is the only one of your images (that I tried) that doesn't load directly from the browser address bar.
