Easy Populate csv question

I am using Windows currently with Excel and I open my downloaded product inventory with Excel as a .txt file with Easy Populate, but the formatting is nothing like I thought. Is there a way to utulize the csv formatting in a way that I can input data in tables to be imported? Please let me know if Easy Populate is what I need. I have 500 products to input as well as lengthy html code for a flash player, and I am looking for a way to speed up this process. Thank you.

 

(Also, is there an alternative to Excel for Mac users, besides editing the file with BBEdit?) Thanks,

the easiest thing to do is create a listing using you admin panel the download the .txt file to open in excel, then when you open it you have all the parameters you need for that particular range of items, eg

 

I sell footwear so what i did was in admin->catalog->attributes set my attributes, which in this case would be sizes 1-14 and 3 or 4 different colors, then i downloaded the .txt file opened it in excel and could see what boxes needed to have a "0" in the make that particule attribute function. so, (size) 3 | 0 | 4 | 0 | etc etc

what you can see above is that if i want size 3 included i have to have the "0" in the next column to the right. if i had this (size) 3 | | 4 | 0 | that would mean size "3" would be omitted but size four would be included, clear?? if not PM me,
