Is the Product weight in lbs?? and other weight issue

Is the Product weight in lbs??

 

I dont know why my shipping costs are so hight can someone help me.

 

Also I have one product with the weight setup as 0.50 why am I getting the following

 

United Parcel Service (UPS GND 1 X 1.65) $10.46

United States Postal Service (USPS priority Mail 1 X 1.65)

From what I know, and I'm rather new to osCommerce is this:

 

If you have the shipping and handling fee set in the admin section, it add's that price to the price of shipping. By default out of the box shipping and handling is +$5.00. So If you dont want that make it 0.00 and your shipping cost should go from $10.46 to $5.46.

 

Someone correct me if im wrong, but I dont believe I am. If I had more time this morning I'd reconfirm what I believe but I dont. I hope this points you both in the right direction.

Thanks! I had not changed the settings for tare weight or handling which were initially much higher than I would normally charge. This was indeed inflating the s/h charges.
