is it possible to set up oscommerce to work on my computer instead of internet? how? it seems like i get stuck when i try to setup the databasesettings...

Not sure if i understand your question correctly but i have my installation running locally without any kind of connection to the Internet. You will need to install and run it on a webserver like Apache and a database like MySQL. If you have these installed already, try typing localhost and see if you get the default Apache homepage. If yes, then you need to install osCommerce in its htdocs directory. Hope that helps.
