would it not be better to just go to Solution - downloads, and get a copy of the whole osc files to your pc so that you dont need to come here asking for a file next time? It is a waste of forum space to paste such a big file here.

Why do you need the index file - what is the problem - maybe you should ask how to get your index file fixed?

hello thank you for your help,

i wanted to remove a simple txt on my front page TEXT_MAIN

I was told to go to index and find the word and comment it out...which i think i did...(i deleated it)

did i do that correct?

well nothing happened thetxt did not remove ..so i put it back

and then my site said error on line 13 index....

but im sure i was not on line 13

as i was at the bottom

so i messed around a bit and then my whole index was open to the public to view....

i tried downloading the file like ken said...the index is no longer available to the public

instead it now states

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '>' in /home/natdelwh/public_html/index.php on line 306

this is the area i was working on

<td class="main"><?php echo(TEXT_MAIN); ?></td>

i dont know what has happened or where i have gone wrong

can you please help

thank you ever so much

It sounds like you may have edited the wrong index.php.

The file you should edit is located in /includes/languages/english/index.php

it sounds like you have edited the /index.php file instead.

Tell me which file you need, and i will send it to you by email

1) At the top of this page is a tab for solutions->downloads.

download oscommerce.

2) unzip it

3) Find the file you need and upload it to your server replacing the corrupt one.

4) to edit the text on the main page you need to go to catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php

(If you look at the default text it explains exactly how to edit it.)

For future reference, this is the link to all original osCommerce code files in the structure as it exists on your server.

http://oscdox.com/crossx/nav.html?_functions/index.html

Click on the link for the page you need, then click the "source view" link. Copy the code from there, and paste it to your own catalog/index.php.

Once you have fixed your problem, BACK UP (download) your files to your local drive via FTP and edit locally, uploading your edited files as you need. This way, when you run into trouble like this with a file or two or three, you can upload the appropriate latest backup files and back out of your jam quickly.
