How to get Product Category ?

Hi all,

 

i am new to osC. May be my question would be a childish one.

 

well, tell me is there any function exist to get a product category id. i just want to pass a parameter as "product id" and it should return me the "category id" of that product. So, is it exist or i 'll have to write mine. Please tell me to write my own function what should i do ? and where should i place my function, i mean which file ?

 

There's also another problem:

 

i 've created another type of login say "Dealers", now i want to show a different price to the registered dealers. Each dealer have different prices @ each category. So the problem is, when i 've gone through the code, it uses queries everywhere to get product prices, it seems i 'll have to change everywhere through out the site, is there a solution of this problem, that i might be change a function & it results in the change of product price in both login types. That General customner will see it's own price & dealer will see the ( price * price_multiplier)
