mattreicher Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I have a small ebay store that sells video games and I am having a tough time finding inventory. I would like to set up a site that pays cash for video games mailed in (sort of a cellforcash.com of video games...but not as big). What things do I need to change/manipulate to make this work? It doesn't have to be too big, just a band-aid solution until I can come up with something else. I would appreciate any thoughts, or anybody that can point me in the right direction. Thank you.

I think using oscommerce would work in the above example. You would populate the database with games, as if you were selling them, with an associated price (that you would pay the customer). They would add items to their shopping cart, and submit the order to you. You could then have order status - such as pending, approved, declined, etc --- based on what orders you wanted to accept. As for modifications, a simple tweak to bypass the payment pages. There are many sites that function as you describe. You could also utilize the product attributes module to set up price schemes for conditions. Say $25 dollars for River City Ransom, but then have attributes such as + $5.00 for the box, + $20 sealed, - $3.00 for scuffed label, etc ... Cool idea! Maybe I am old, but the only sites I have seen that buy games, use a cumbersome spreadsheet for prices, rather then a shopping cart. There are many stores that buy cds like this though, like secondspin.com is a good example. Good luck!
