Guest
No just the database is backed up. To back your site, load your favorite FTP program, and download everything to a folder. When making a backup of your database, I recommend saving it to a file rather than having it be saved on your server.
GemRock
i read some posts, someone suggest to backup before installing contributions, can anyone point me to the right direction on how to backup all the original setttings/data before installing contribution... There are different ways of backing up your site, it all depends on what contribs you are going to install, ie, how many files/changes needed to be make. Generally speaking, you can backup your site's files/settings (the two configure.php files) using FTP. Just download all of them (assuming you dont have large number of images files with 100s KB each) to your local pc's harddrive. For the database, you can use either phpMyAdmin to export all the table's structure & data as sql scripts and save them as a file on your local pc, or you can go to Admin - tools - backup, to backup the database. To backup your whole site is good even you are not making any changes - just in case your host server clashes somehow so that you dont lose all your eggs. :) If you are going to just make some changes to a few files, then you could download these files using FTP to your local pc.
