Click on Category, Display Products with SubCategory Titles

I have been trying to find a contribution or a previous forum note regarding this, but I couldn't find it, so I'll ask here.

 

What I would like to be able to do, is click on the Category, and get a listing of all the products in that category along with sub category headings. For example.

 

In the left navigation pane I have:

• Category 1
  • SubCat 1a
    
  • SubCat 1b
    
  • SubCat 1c
    

When the user clicks on "Category 1" they would see this in the center (main window):

Category 1
 SubCat 1a
Product 1a1
Product 1a2
Product 1a3
 SubCat 1b
Product 1b1
Product 1b2
Product 1b3

etc.
