I have download the contribution "Extra Images" Mikel Williams and made the changes.

 

Then a modification to the /admin/products_extra_images.php will change the admin function to use the product name field instead of the product model with the pull-down."

 

but I have not seen my extra images.

View your browser's HTML source and see if the extra image is referenced and what its path is.

 

Check your images directory to see if the image has actually been uploaded.

Someone told me "If you installed the contribution correctly, there will be buttons in there to upload extra images. You must have these pictures on your hard drive, 'cause once you try to upload an image, you must browse for it on your hard drive."

so i didn't use TEXT_SPECIAL_IMAGE_PATH.

and if you are seeing something called "TEXT_SPECIAL_IMAGE_PATH" then it means that you haven't installed all of the contribution.

 

 

As for "I've been posting all day" - it's Sunday and some people have a life outside of osCommerce.

I've made the changes given by the file.

So what can I do to fix this ?

Well, it's a different timing for some people on Sunday. It's currently 6ish where I am.

Which contribution from those that were listed did you install specifically?

 

I used Extra Images 1.4 by ***orchid*** on the 16th (full package), followed by the update on the 24th, and finally the Admin mod by Kaiser on the 1st.

I just found this thread and I was just going to see if anyone else had success installing this very contrib. I didn't yet. I have been about ripping my hair out. It appears like its there and working in admin, but when I try to add the extra images nothing happens. I was wondering if maybe I was doing something wrong, because the instructions seemed a little lacking as far as how to actually use it. Anyway, can someone please give me some advice on how to use the admin adding pics part or explain what I might have done wrong on the install. I checked thru everything and can't find anything wrong.

I have it working perfectly. Did you make sure you ran the SQL file in your database? Did you also make sure you placed the extra code into your product_info.php file, and various others as listed in the install.txt file?

Thanks for the reply. I think you are referring to me. Anyway, I believe I have done everything in the install precisely as stated. I installed this about 2 weeks ago so its all a little fuzzy now. I gave up on it for a while. Anyway, you asked if I ran the SQL file. I believe I did. I am still a newbie so could you tell me if I could just run it again, in case I didn't do it before? Will it hurt anything if I had run it again?

Should be okay, I once ran an SQL file twice and it gave me a duplicate error.

 

Also check if the Display Extra Images is set to true in your Config panel (most bottom).

Well now, now that I check admin again here I see "Display Extra Images" is there as you said at the bottom 3 get it 3 times!!! What in the world did I do to have this option 3 times?

Do you have a backup of your database before installing this contribution?

 

Other than doing a fresh install, I'm not sure how specifically I can help you. I could clean up the instructions and repost the contrib.

This is actually on a brand new used car dealership site I am working on for my husband, floridaautooutlet.com,

and there are only pretend vehicles in it as of now, because he has just got his license and is ready to buy cars. That being the case, what do you think I should do to fix my problem. I don't understand this php and SQL stuff exactly, only what I have learned by doing my own website and now his.

Phew okay thats good :). Well the first thing you'll need to do is to load a backup of your site, and your database.

 

If you don't have one, you'll probably need to erase everything and start over. That means removing all files from your FTP, and deleting your database via your websites control panel. Once you're done, reinstall OSC, and immediately make a file backup of your database. You can find it under the Tools panel in your OSC admin. Put the file on your HDD somewhere organized.

 

I'll go through the installation procedure step by step once you're ready :).

I did make a copy of all the oscommerce files for this site shortly before I installed this contrib. Can't I just copy over the files that I changed for the contribution? I had done a few modifications up to this point and would really rather not have to do them again.

 

As far as the database, I do not have a back up of that. Actually, I hadn't thought to do that yet because I haven't added much info to it and when I go in that admin area I get this message "Error Error: Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php." Do you know what this means? I am sure that I had to do this on my other website, but that was several months ago, now I don't remember. Can I just erase the database info that is in there at this point and start out fresh?

 

Thanks again!!!!!! I am trying so hard to help my Hubby with this so he can sell his vehicles!

Do you have the Backup button even with that error? If so, use it, and tick the box that says Download only. Then backup and save the file. Also, I don't think deleting the whole thing will work. When OSC installs, it creates an organized one. Deleting it would probably make the site a bit broke :).

 

But I think it should be okay to proceed, even with the three duplicate entries.

 

 

Can you confirm if you've made these first 3 changes:

/admin/includes/filenames.php
(just before the last ?>)
define('FILENAME_PRODUCTS_EXTRA_IMAGES','products_extra_images.php'); //Added for Extra Images Contribution

(just before the last ?>)

Find the following line:

and insert this line directly after it:

Wow, I couldn't post for a while. Anyway, there is no button for the backup to press in admin. Here is all that is shown on the screen:

Backup Directory: /kunden/homepages/12/d188340574/htdocs/admin/backups/

 

There is no date or file size shown or any buttons.

 

I checked all the files you mentioned and they seem to be correct.

 

Any further ideas?

 

I must go sleep for a little while now. It is actually early morning here and I will not be able to function tomorrow. I got a lot accomplished though. I learned a lot from you and some others on this forum and I got a bunch of images modified and added to my wicker website.

 

Thanks again, you have been Oh So Helpful! I'll check back here tomorrow to see what new things I can learn!

Hmm thats funny. Can you try making a backup through your websites database admin instead? Its called phpMyAdmin or something. When in there, find "Export", tick a box called "Save as File" if available & save it.

 

 

Ok can you confirm if this mod is in your product_info.php file (located in your root directory)?:

If it isn't add it, if it is, please modify it to look like this:

Once done, upload it and refresh one of your products page. Before it adds the extra images, it will output the "CONFIRMATION TEXT START" message in your HTML code, you'll know its going that far at least. The next check is "WHOOPS NO PRODUCTS", it will show if the code doesn't think you have products. The final check is "CONFIRMATION TEXT END", which will show after everything is done. If everything works, only the first and last message will show. Else all three messages will show. If the first or last doesn't show, there's a problem :).

 

I put long "=" signs so it stands out easily. So view your HTML code and check for them.
