Guest
Hi everyone. I just opened my website and can not stand the standard Paypal shopping cart buttons. I am looking for a solution that enables me to offer options when a buyer is purchasing one of my products. Here is an example: I am selling a hairbow that can be affixed to 5 different types of clips. The hairbow also comes in 50 different colors. The customer can also choose to have rhinestones put on the hairbow for an additional x amount of dollars. And the customer also has the choice of adding a second hairbow for only x amount of dollars more. I can not do this with Paypal. I have seen several shops out there that do have these options but honestly, I do not have the money to spend to pay for these other services to put all of these options together. I am HTML literate and also somewhate PHP literate. And I catch on really quick. So I am wondering if osCommerce is for me. Is it easy to manipulate and personalize? Is it easy to set up inventory, shipping and payment options? Sorry if this is jumbled. I'm just trying to find a way to give my site the best options I can get on a limited budget for right now. TIA! Erica
bill110
osCommerce can do these things. Being html and php literate has you ahead of the curve of most beginners. You will need to add at least one contribution that adds to the functionality of the shop for all the additional attributes you need but there are some here and the forum is a great place to find out what you need. Guest
Thanks so much! My biggest thing is that I want the site to look unique, not cookie-cutter, KWIM? I see so many sites that use osCommerce that don't have that cookie-cutter look though which is definitely encouraging! So I think I may take the plunge and download it. Thanks again! And if anyone else has any suggestions, I am definitely open to them. :-)
