Product listing by categories on products_new.php

Hi,

 

I tried to add a drop down list on products_new.php, so as customers can specify category they want to check the new products, like you can select manufactures on index.php, but failed:(

Can anyone advice how it can be done?

also a drop down with check products for last 2 weeks, or 4 weeks, or so on alongside with specifying the category would have beed great addition to new products page

You could copy the code from it, or check the advanced_search.php how it uses the categories drop-down list and do the same for new products.
