I was just trying to illustrate the fact that the ball has a light bulb inside it to allow people to play at night. Apart from that are there any other suggestions? Anyone else have any problems or suggestions? Thanks
shooter-boy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Looks great mate. Well done. The only thing that looks strange to me is the varying widths of the things in the right column... having the centred within the column and all the box images the same size might help things, but just my opinion. BTW., there is a dedicated forum for this type of critique. You would probably get more responses. Rob Rob Bell - Inspired Graphix Customising osCommerce in Australia, and the world! Rob Okay thanks, Could you expand a bit more on the varying widths...I'm not quite sure what you mean.
shooter-boy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Sure! The boxes that you have around your Shopping Cart, Currencies, What's New, and Quick Find all have different width boxes. If you made them all as wide as the column i think it would look better. Also something i noticed... you should include text links in the footer for major pages (home, about, shipping etc). BTW... just noticed you are Aussie too! Good to know i am not the only one on the computer sitting next to my coffee machine :) Rob PS: And a few late additions. You should install a buttons contribution, or make a full set of your own to replace the stock ones. Maybe come up with a "image not available" image to help evenly space products. They are easy to glance over otherwise. Rob Bell - Inspired Graphix Customising osCommerce in Australia, and the world! View my profile for web and email links. Should I make the links in the footer the same way they are in the header? Yeah I'm more of a night person than a morning one! :) Which buttons should I replace? I thought I replaced most... I really like the idea of the image not available. Thank You!
shooter-boy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Hi Mate, I am not sure how you have coded them, but basically you would need to give them each a fixed with in the table that builds them. The links in the footer should just be text links. Just remember to use the tep_href_link function for linking, or you will have session problems. I noticed a few that were standard... sorry, can't remember where i found them. Add to Cart and Reviews are two that i found right away. Continue, sign in... they are all stock. All of your index page buttons are custom and look great, so probably make similar ones for those. You will find all the standard osC buttons in includes/languages/english/images/buttons/ Yeah i work better at night too (although it usually turns into morning quite rapidly - its 3.38am now!). shooter-boy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 And i see that you have already added a "No image Available"... looks great! I used them a while ago here: http://www.gmscostumes.com.au/catalog/index.php?cPath=74_91 with a sillouette of a image so it wasn't just plain text too... Rob At the moment I have the breadcrumb navigation in the footer. Do you think this is good instead of just plain links? Just curious why you suggested having Home links etc in the footer? Thanks. I will try and change the buttons as much as possible :) Thank You. Are there any other suggestions any one can think of? Thanks
shooter-boy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Text links are a good thing to have, as "if all else fails", then you know you will still have links that work in every browser. They are easy for users to see and use if they want to, so it is extremely common. Take a look at a few of your favourite sites, and you will probably see them... Can't think of anything else at the moment, but PM me when you're done, and i'll take a last look if you want.. Rob Rob Bell - Inspired Graphix Customising osCommerce in Australia, and the world!
