Hello OSC community,

Santa Clause gave me a crisp $100 bill to spend on advertising for 2007, and I need a little advise.

Here is the question. What is the best way to spend $100.00 to advertise your way into a zillion dollar web empire?! B)

Wow! That's a tough question...

I suggest that you look for free directories and add your website to them. Some will need reciprocal links, others won't. Your page rank is zero, getting links will bring it up and help to get you listed by the search engines. As for the $100, I spend it on Starbucks coffee to keep me awake so I can work late into the night building links. :)

While you are wired on Starbucks in the middle of the night, are there forums that discuss the topics you sell? If so, create a Banner in you sig line.

Good luck

What about pay per click option? Has anyone had any luck with Shopzilla and the like?

I had some really good experiences with Shopzilla. However, $200 suddenly got sucked away without any orders (was getting like 10-20 orders per $100) and I complained that something was wrong and I must be the victim of click fraud or something. They told me that was impossible because they are immune to such petty things. I haven't used them since.

I like the Starbucks idea the best. Buy 50 cups of coffee, and spend all night learning about how google adwords determines the quality score for a landing page. Then focus on how to optimize your landing pages to improve your quality score and conversions.

Even if I didn’t use adwords, I would still build my landing pages the way google suggests.

Best Regards,

Pay Per Click Advertising is expensive and once your money is spent there is no residual benefit. I spend over $3k per month with Google - yes it works but $100 wouldn't go very far. You might be able to find some keywords which are inexpensive (I have a range from $0.20 to $0.60 which I work within for my keywords).

I just attended an all day seminar on Google AdWords. If you want to learn all the in's and out's of AdWords I highly recommend attending. The cost was $250 for 8 hours of lecture time. Lots of discussions and question/answer sessions. They talk quite a bit about the quality score in the intermediate session. If you want to check it out, the link is Google Adwords Seminar.

well, you could spend 100$ as an oscommerce community sponsor. Our sponsorship recently expired, and the difference is about 60 visitors per day. If the osCommerce user/aspiration base is your target audience, and should the new release come out this year, traffic will increase, so that might be a good altruistic investment. Javaroasters might get you a good deal on coffee in the mean time :D

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support).

So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?!

Find the most frequent unique errors to fix:

Go to the digitalpoint webmaster forum and look for a manual directory submission service. Takes a while to see the results in google but can get you a pr4 at least by the next update and 500 to 1000 back links. Also maybe try a article submission service if you can afford that as well.
