I just sent out the newsletter to my customers and received the following error...

2013 - Lost connection to MySQL server during query

update newsletters set date_sent = now(), status = '1' where newsletters_id = '5'

[TEP STOP]

Any suggestions?

I am sending out test newsletters and having all kinds of problems.

It appears that if the newsletter content is under 300 bytes it goes out. But if it is over 300 bytes never receive it. It cannot be a spam filter issue because I am sending it to a variety of different e-mail addresses. And of course 300 bytes is nothing.

Anybody else run into this problem and have a fix?

Any answer on this? The newsletter feature is useless if can only send out a 300 byte message.

It has been a month with no answer, so asking the question again. If this problem is not fixed, the newsletter feature is useless.

yes, two months for what? I do not see this problem with the stock osc. So it could be either some incorrect configuration, some custom module or something your server may do with the mail function or something else. There are some alternatives if you search the forum to try out. But is hard to guess unless you guys either post the exact steps to reproduce the problem or some other way to see the issue. Does your admin email functionality works first of all? Try getting a module that sends emails from the admin end and put some html into it. Does it have the same issue?

I know the newsletter with the stock osc works fine. With long newsletters and html (pictures, links etc in them), I ve seen it working with several sites without doing anything.

It takes two months to get any kind of a response and your 'disturbed' with my posting? I did not what else to post.

As can be seen by my report of the problem, my e-mail functionality is working. Otherwise I would not be able to send out the newsletter at all. After hours of testing (did not realize at first that it is the size of the newsletter), the newsletter goes out fine when there is only a couple lines of text. Invoices to customers and admin mail out fine. Birhday notifications go out fine.

I don't know what steps to post. I am obviously follwoing the steps properly, otherwise the newsletter would not go out at all.

Any idea of what type of contribs would be causing a problem?
