Some general questions - local install to web, credit card payments, best contributions etc

Hi,

 

I have some questions that should be quite easy...

 

1) I'm developing on a local install, when I come to uploading onto a hosting server will it be easy? is there a list of files that will need changing or anything? whats the best way to do it?

 

2) I'm in the UK - does anyone know of a decent cheap host?

 

3) Again being in the UK, what is the best way of accepting credit card payments, I haven't got a merchant account etc.

 

4) Which contributions to people swear by that I should be instaling ?!? I'm just setting up a standard shop type store.

For #4, I'd like to recommend ImageMagic together with the More Pics 6 v1.2c contrib. With More_Pics, you can add an unlimited number of images. With ImageMagic, you don't have to worry about uploading several sized thumbs of the same image, just upload one full sized one, and away it goes :). Surprising thing about it is that I didn't see any conflicts between both additions, which is nothing short of fantasmagorical!

 

All this of course depends on what kind of site you want, and what your hosting provider provides. Get hosting that has PHP and MySQL support. And finally, if you have the will to succeed, find time to understand and tweak your HTML, CSS and PHP codes :).
