Hiya Im a Newbie To all This Os commerce Stuff, and Ive finally Installed my shop but one problem i have no secruity on the admin area, therefore i downloaded password_protect from oscommerce, I follow the below instructions and get stuck on Number 3 because the following words are shown (Access denied for user 'creativewebcam'@'10.1.17.3' (using password: YES)

Can anyone Please explain why it saying this , "creativewecam" is the database's username , thank you very much x

3. Upload your files to the server and go to:

http://www.yourdomain.com/password_protect/admin/install.php

INSTALLATION

1. Open the config.php file and set all of your MySQL settings.

2. Open the admin/config.php file and place those same settings.

3. Upload your files to the server and go to:

http://www.yourdomain.com/password_protect/admin/install.php

Hi First of all you have misplelled the creativeweBcam.. could that be the prob..also this has nothing to do with protecting your website admin this, I think ,has to do with your db connection and using old passwords... check mysql compatibilty new php 4.3 plus using new long hashed md5 passwords,

hope this helps

cheers

Hi Russell Thanks For Getting Back To Me, Is There Any Chance you Could Help Me With Securing my Admin Area Only Im Very New With This, My Msn is [email protected] xxx id really appreciate the help

Hi Kate

Your webhost will have a system in cpanel for securing your admin folder - ie creating and .htacess file, but you dont need to know that,, just chose the folder you want to protect in this case admin...

or there is a module for password protecting admin... look in modules.

hope this helps,

cheers

Rusty
