Ok I have been searching but cant really find what im loking for. It seems the best advice when using oscommerce is when making any changes is to backup first. Could someone please just put some step by step instructions up as to how i actually backup or give the link where i might find them.

Thanks in advance

There are two things to back up:

Database - Which you can do through your admin panel Tools>Database backup or through your cpanel (host)

Files - Download (FTP) a copy of your whole shop to your local computer, then if you make a mistake you can upload the "good" copy of that file from your computer.

Do this each time you do a contribution &/or periodically. You could also keep a copy on disc just incase your local computer crashes too if you want.

Hope that helps

Julie

I have a complete store backup on my computer, but still make the point of creating a copy of any individual files that i alter before they are altered. If things do go wrong, i have a recent copy to hand.

REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
