jimlongo
Hi, first post. My webhoster provides one-click installation of the oscommerce package. It installed perfectly and they have links from their cpanel software to the admin pages. I have a question and comment regarding the oscommerce software. I'm familiar with running various php-based forums. Is it possible to change the URL of the admin page. With the setup of the one-click installation provides it seems to me that anyone can enter http://www.mydomain.com/admin/index.php and have full access to the admin pages of this store. Can I change the admin directory to another name and will everything still work alright? Or is there another way to add security to the administrators pages. Also I'm a little surprised that all the directories have no index.html (as a 403 forbidden) file in them. Anyone can directly enter http://www.mydomain.com/admin/includes and get a full file listing on the server if (as many might) have Directory Indexing turned on. tia, jim
Jack_mcs
You can change it to whatever you want. You just need to be sure to edit the admin/includes/configure.php file to match the change. To prevent someone from gaining access, you need to password protect it. That is usually done using the option in most hosts control panel.
