I think Harald is going to. He seems to think that FEDEX merely updated the ratefinder for international. According to the level 2 tech support guy I talked to at Fedex, they *eliminated* the rate finder (which was not a supported method anyway), you can no longer pass the info to get a rate. So, I actually hope Harald is right otherwise a new method will have to be developed to work with OSC, probably Ship Manager Direct which IS a Fedex supported method. Way different, more time.

Yes, it is, but the *claim* was you can not pass variables to get the shipping quote.

Looks like its true :(

The new RateFinder service is a two step process - after the first form submission the parameters are stored in a session and are manually inaccessible during the second step in the process.

I will get in contact with the FedEx representative that helped me last time to see what can be done.

I just noticed documentation is available for static rates, which is always a better solution as no remote queries need to be made (or can/should be used as a fallback mode). The documentation is available here if someone is interested in making a module for the static rates (I do not have the time to parse all that information :)):

We could ofcourse make two requests with the second request containing the session ID in the URL - but I find this to be unacceptable.

Waiting to hear back from the FedEx representative.

Yeah, that's what the guy said, good luck basically.

I think in the long run, and ship manager direct option which is supported pretty well will be the solution. Doesn't look too bad. Should also be a lot faster than using the current technique. And, it shouldn't change all the time too.

I just got my Fedex account (was using UPS), so am still learning about it, and now am set up on their test server, but gotta get some more stuff done on my site before I leave for Australia.

However, I can see developing the driver for ship manager direct if no one else does in the meantime. I got all the doc finally.

If I remember correctly doesn't the ship manager API require Java??

Mark,

Ship Manager API is much different than Ship Manager Direct. Direct means no API in the middle. The API would not work with PHP very well.

I'm using the snapshot from Nov 8th, and Fedex isn't available as best as I can tell.

What is the current status of the work on the fedex module?

I thought about using intershipper, and their site apparently won't allow new signups, at least I couldn't figure out how to get past the page that said "we require logins now and we're going to rewrite our entire backend...". Hopefully they'll write it in something besides ASP so their site can stay up... 8-)

I've got a fair amount of experience in php and am ready to help on this if needed, I've got 2 clients ready for fedex yesterday.

Thanks,

Hi Tim,

I am not sure if anyone is working on it.. Harald?

But I sure would like to see it happen.

Although I new nothing about php before installing this cart I am picking up bits and pieces but not near enough to assist in this module.
