Brooke
you really should never edit files through the admin. the best way to do it is to download the file via ftp, make a backup copy, make your changes, then re-upload it to the proper place. editing through the admin can mess up your files. What? Yeah, I can do that.

Brooke
make sure you are saving your changes, and uploading it to the right spot. then try viewing it in a different browser or empty the cache in your current browser to make sure its not storing and showing the old content. also what kind of edit are you tryiing to make? maybe thats the problem. What? Yeah, I can do that.

bill110
It sounds like the server is not letting you chmod. After you chmod to 644 check to see if it changed, or, after editing locally, delete the one on the server before uploading the new one.
