Suggestions on where to begin

Hi,

I'll keep this short. I've had an OSCommerce retail website for about 5 years that my husband's friend built for me. I'd like to make changes but he (my husband's friend) is too busy these days.

 

I would like to learn how this all works and while I've made little changes over the years myself I really don't understand what I"m doing and am therefore dangerous. ;)

 

I also don't have tons of concentrated time as I have a little 2 year old running about the house.

 

Any suggestions on where to start? I"ve browsed the OSCommerce site and just get overwhelmed sometimes.

 

Any suggestions are appreicated.

Make a test site, where you can expiriment without "risk".
