tridean Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi all, I am in need of some experienced hands here. I have a web site that was built on a hosted e-commerce package called vermotion. Due to the costs of hosting I want to move, however I have a slight problem. For the past year I received 15,000 unique visitors due to SEO marketing etc, and unfortunately, the most popular pages are not limited to a few, in fact the number of category pages that are ranked in the top ten are quite high. The problem is there are all html based URL's. I was hoping that if I installed OScommerce through cpanel, will I be able to rebuild my cart side of the site and still maintain all of my html pages? I'm not too fussed about the product pages, but the category pages need to stay as html as this is where I get the traffic. I also noticed that in the 'Features' section it states that it can be incorporated into existing sites, but after that it has in brackets (MS3) ans I was wondering what this means? Is it an update and where can I get it? Cheers Dean

If I have an established web site already and i install oscommerce in the root directory, will my original site still show up or will I get the oscommerce page? Dean
tridean Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 Could I also get an idea on how to edit the name of a category URL. For example I added a category to my site named dolphin figurines, yet the URL comes up http://.........../index.php?cPath=21 This is no good as all my traffic arrives organically from search engines to my category pages through standard html, categroy named URL's Really apprecaite some help here Cheers Dean
