Are these type of posts getting tiresome, or is it just me? Maybe we can do something like they do over at these forums:

http://www.codingforums.com/forumdisplay.p...hp?s=&forumid=2

They have a "MUST READ" in the major newbie forums that councils people how to post a productive topic, and message, as well as first steps for where to find help.

I've stated this before and I'll still feel this way: we need to coach our new users how to communicate with our community more productively.

I'd be more than happy to write a MUST READ doc for the top of our forums so that users can know how to communicate with us better.

How about a message on the forums reminding people that this is JUST the forums and that OSC actually has a WHOLE site out there...

If you want intro information go here.

http://www.oscommerce.com/community.php/faq

Navigate the whole site and you shall find my friend.

As a newbie always looking for help on the forum and NOT having any programming skills, questions from other newbies help me understand how OSCommerce works or can work.

But bottom line is when we need to pay for a mod, it would be useful to know who are "experts" in OSC and who are happy amateurs.

How about a separate link to a list of "commercial" OSC programmers with the override that all mods are fed back to the community after 6 months (to allow for debugging)?

I am all up for ideas such as this, but I would hate to think that OSC could turn into a commercial area for freelance php programmers to start touting for business.

I'm sure if someone else decided to start their own site for ppl to visit to find our this kind of information then many ppl would be interested.
