French catalogue

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm confussed with the language packs (it doesn't take much to confuse me)

I want french to be an option in the catalogue but keep the admin side in english. So in the catalogue the visitor can click a french flag with the english, german, or spanish one.

There are so many french language packs in the contribute section I'm scared that if I try one everything will be in french !

any advice

The default language for the shop is controlled by setting it in admin->Localization->Languages. The default language for admin is set by choosing it from the drop down when you enter into admin. Installing language packs is just a matter of uploading files (for most of them) and adding the language as an option in admin, so no harm will be done. But you should always backup before making such changes regardless.
