sfatula Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 I talked to my person at Fedex today, and they said they no longer support the RateFinderServet and it is gone, forever. If true, then a new shipping module will be needed as it will have to use Ship Manager Direct, which is pretty much completely different than the old ratefinder. So, for those using Fedex, sounds like it will be a while before rates will work. Looks like it takes a good bit of effort to even get the doc for this. Steve
crshNbrn Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 I talked with fedex a month ago when the old fedex mod broke, they told me about the new http://www.fedex.com/servlet/RateFinderServlet way of getting rates......Are these clowns again changing things.....so nice of them a month ago to tell me not to bother with the http://www.fedex.com/servlet/RateFinderServlet as they plan to change it...........maybe that would have been to hard to say "we plan on changing operations just like home depot changes the store layout....god for bid you get to comfortible in using our product.......To Fedex I say good-bye and hopefully hello to UPS ....wow that also hurts me to say that. GRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr. crshNbrn living on the edge.....
Harald Ponce de Leon Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 I don't think you should be blaming FedEx here, but osCommerce for the recent problems in receiving FedEx shipping rates. FedEx is not at fault here - all they did were improve their services so that worldwide shipping was possible with the RateFinder service. This service cannot be "dead" as it was just updated the past weekend to be able to do worldwide shipping. Previously only international shipping from America was possible. The new FedEx module in osCommerce uses the RateFinder service, but has yet to be updated to work with the new worldwide shipping capabilities. The RateFinder service is not a real API to receive shipping rates. It is a web-based frontend to the API, which the new osCommerce module queries and parses the returning HTML output for the shipping rates. The idealistic FedEx module for osCommerce would not use the RateFinder service but the API that FedEx offers. Until such a module is made, the module that uses the RateFinder service will be playing a cat and mouse game everytime the RateFinder service is updated. FedEx do inform their customers appropiately when they plan updates for their services. If you signed up an account at FedEx you would have received an email concerning last weekends updates. I however have not had the time to update the shipping module in CVS to reflect the changes. Whether this problem is directly my fault or not, I apologize for the inconviences caused and will look into updating the module as soon as I am able to. , osCommerce
