Is that a normal experience - do users signup but not buy? I would have thought users would only signup if they had something in their basket. Or is there a problem with their setup - not support secure connections or something? Or perhaps our shipping charges are putting people off? Any views appreciated. Regards, Floob. What you want to do is eliminate the 'deterrents', or things that the customer see's that deter them from making the purchase. Some are obvious, some aren't. Here's one's that I've found. - Shipping too high, due to handling charges. - Shipping too high due to default shipping quote selections - Shipping too high because of method, (UPS instead of USPS priority, ect) - inability to ship internationally - Dramatic warnings (paypal's continue button problem) - Not enough payment method options (lots of people have a problem with paypal) - non-signed SSL certificate - exclusive use of third party 'gateway' payment processors The more deterrents you eliminate, the higher percentage of people who sign up will make a purchase. Additionally, I have a script that will email anyone that signed up, but did not make a purchase after 12 hours, and respectfully ask them for feedback. I had to put it on hold while I put out several other fires, including international shipping quotes, and letting customers get a shipping quote without having to log in. I felt these isues had a higher priority. Basically, all the script you are looking for is a cron entry that cal a program that queries the DB looking for new items left in the shopping cart since the last run. The automated unsubscribe is a cron entry that calls a parser that parses a mailboxfile looking for email addresses.
