Header Tags and Meta Tags - How do you do this??

Hi,

 

As the title suggests, how do I insert header tags and meta tags into my site?

 

I have looked through the boards and one person whos name I cannot remember states that you need to instal the Header Tags file, where do I get this and where do I instal it?

 

The same goes for the meta tags, where do I add these?

 

As you have guessed I am new at doing this so any help will be appreciated.

Header Tags is the name of a contribution. It adds the ability to use meta tags (among other things) into your site. There are other contributions that allow that too. You might want to take a look at this thread to get a feel for the various contributions.

which one is best to use with the SEO URL friendly contribution

i had the cDynamic tags and was happy with it but since i installed the SEO URLs it does not work. now i installed the Meta Tag Controller v1.2. it is OK but as you say in the description it is a bit too limited.

your suggestion will be appreciated very much

What SEO URL friendly contribution are you using? I haven't heard of any problems with CDyanmic Meta Tags and the various SEO url rewrite contributions but I don't follow it so that might be the case. Header Tags works with all of the rewrite contributions except for one, unless that has been fixed. Although I don't recall which one that is. You should use the Ultimate SEO contribution since it provides the best results, in my opinion. Once that is installed. Header Tags, and probably the other meta tags contributions, will work fine with it.

i use the Ultimate_SEO_URLsv21da

 

it works very well

 

but i had cDynamic Meta Tags v1.2 installed and it worked fine. after installing the SEO URL then it stopped working with the cathegory files. there is some conflict there. so i had to remove it but i really like it. by the way i use version 1.2 - there is version 1.5 now but i am not sure if the problem persists with this one too, so i have not updated

 

now i use the Meta Tag Controller v1.2, it is OK but i do not like that all tags for the keywords and the description are the same on all pages.

 

when you say Header Tags whicj contribution do you mean exactly

I am referring to the Header Tags Controller contribution. As for the problem with cDynamic, I can't help you since I don't use it, but you might try asking in the support thread for that contribution. Someone there might know the answer to your problem.

Thanks for your reply, I haven't had a chance to look at these indepth but I will do in the next couple of days, when I get the time to sit down and take my time reading it.

P.S. Do you know of anywhere I can get banners so that I can do a link exchange, I have spent time looking but most look very poor.

What I mean is, some sites offer banner exchanges which I should have put instead of 'link' (worked 12 hour shift and was tired!) and I have seen all these great banners but cannot find a site that looks genuine enough to take the risk of either parting with money (a small amount!) or giving away my email address.
