Database conflict causing category issue? (Really bad)

We have been experiencing an issue with our test site that I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on.

The problem is that during testing, at the Order Confirmation screen during the checkout process, our categories seemingly are replaced by those for another company that are being hosted by the same place. Our category list is completely replaced with the list from another shop.

Our test site is here:

WildlifeCapture.com

You can see the categories as they should be.

But if you go through the order process completely you will see the following (partial screen shot):

The categories listed in that screen capture are for the following unrelated website that we have no affiliation with:

wrong site

I have contacted our host (ipowerweb.com) and for two weeks have tried to get this fixed. They can't replicate it on their end so they tell me they can't "fix" it. They have confirmed that the other company is someone that they are also hosting.

I have contacted the other site to inform them of the problem and they have not replied to either email I've sent. Perhaps they think it is spam.

We are set up to be hosted with a dedicated SSL through iPowerweb if this info helps.

Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, we would be very thankful. If any other info is needed, I'd be more than happy to provide it. Thanks again in advance.

change your cache directory to one only you have write access to

edit: might be nice to notify the owner of the other site that he is using a common cache directory with public write access too, couse his site most probably is altered with the cache parts that do show up correct on your site.

I really appreciate the reply. Thank you!.

Admittedly, I'm a bit of a novice at this sort of thing and am learning by doing. What you have suggested I do is not registering with me. Can you tell me in a "I have no clue and need it step by step" sort of way? :-)

I am able to move the files around via ftp and chmod stuff via ftp as well if that is what you're referring to but I'm not following the specifics of what your telling me. Sorry.

Thanks again to you (and anyone else that wants to add to this).

p.s. I would be happy to contact the other site but as they seemingly couldn't care about the previous two warnings I gave them, I fear this would also fall on deaf ears.

in the osc backend configuration --> cache

either disable the use of cache or set the cach directory to a folder only you have access to, i.e. in a cataloge/tmp folder,

you could then also set a .htaccess file in there to disable all direct access, but even when not protected against direct access it will not be a security risk.

I'll second the advice. I just had this happen with two sites I host. I changed the cache to "false" and all is well again.

The best solution is to set a different cache directory, where only you have access to, since chache tends to speed pageloading quite a bit up.

I in fact did "fix" the issue simply by changing the cache directory. It worked by renaming it as well as turning it off completely and as previously mentioned it is best for page loading if it's "on" and changed.

Thanks for the suggestions, all!
