Make field required in "creat account"

Hi

Have tried to find out this for quite some time, but can't do it.... I need help to make fields in "create account" required, and others "not required"....where and how?

 

Also, as some hackers continue to spam thru "create account", I would also like to know, how to make some fields only accept numeric entries, and the max/min lenght in any fields.
