david05 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Hi I have gone through the install process of osCommerce a few times on a blank db etc. and am doing so again for the purpose of creating some video tutorials of the installation and configuration process. I noticed (by chance?) this time the .htaccess files have not being copied. The ones I noticed were in the download folder and admin folder, they were not copied to the server. I am using FileZilla FTP program which I have been using for quite a while now with no problems. Has anyone else noticed the .htaccess files not being copied to the server when catalog folder is uploaded, and anyone else using FileZilla for this purpose and noticed any anomolies? Comments appreciated.
natewlew Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I have heard that some windows machines don't like files with a dot on the front of them. You could try deleting the dot then adding it after you upload it. Other great Open Source (Free) programs: (Free as in free speech not free beer) The Gimp - An image program. | Firefox - All you have to do is add the Web Developer add-on to make this web browser complete. | FileZilla - An ftp program. | Inkscape - A good program to create images with. | Thunderbird - An email program. | Openoffice.org - An office suite that is compatible with MS Office. | Abiword - Another office suite. | Audacity - A sound recording tool. | ddp's Picks | Wordpress - An easy to use blogging software. | Joomla - An easy to use CMS that has ecommerce plug-ins. | Drupal - Another CMS How do I find these programs? Google Search!

Yes I know about this, but having to go through all the .htaccess files and delete the dot, then add it again after upload would be unacceptable. I don't even know how many .htaccess files are hidden away in all the sub folders in the catalog directory! Just wondering if anyone else has noticed .htaccess files not being upload from Windows XP to the server? Would be interesting to know.
