Guest Posted September 23, 2002 Posted September 23, 2002 Okay, I'm having a stinkin' wonderful time of trying to modify the permission levels on the appropriate folders and files. I'm on a win2k box because that is the development environment here. Can anyone help me on how to properly set up permission levels on a crappy win2k box? Please?
sjb47 Posted September 23, 2002 Posted September 23, 2002 Been awhile since I worked in Win2K. Working on XP Pro now. If you right click a folder, on the pop menu, there should be an option for "Sharing and Security." Select that option and it should take you to the wonderful world of Windows (cough) security. The Security tab has a list of users and for IIS for anonymous access, you need to set the appropriate permission for the IUSR_<computername> user. IIRC, that option was not available in the default settings but I can't remember where I set it up. HTH. Steven
edschaum Posted September 23, 2002 Posted September 23, 2002 If you're using IIS - Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Internet Services Manager When the tree comes up, right click the directory you want to work on, then click Properties. You'll get a tabbed panel with many options. If you're using PWS, open up the control panel, click on Advanced, highlight the directory you want to modify, and you'll see permission boxes appear in the status box below. Ed
Guest Posted September 24, 2002 Posted September 24, 2002 Thanks guys...I'm actually running Apache and your advice pointed me in the right direction. Thank you so much for your help.
Colin Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 For reference for other users.. I ended up having to click on Administrator > File Access and then manually add each file to the access list.. The module I needed is now 100% functional.
