Hi, I am really stuck!

I recently moved the site to another server, and needed to reastablish database and the config files. I dont know where I'm going wrong, but when I do my edits on the admin side, half the edits dont show up the next time I go in. It's like I never did them. Any help or suggestions? Anyone?

For example, I have xsell. I went in and assigned compatible items to certain products, they were there when I did it, and now a couple of days later, they disappeared.

I have sppc and price breaks installed. I entered different price quantities and price structures for diferent groups, and those have diappeared as well. It's like I've never entered them in.

Any ideas?

I am not familiar with xsell, but you mention some price breaks. Does that xsell have a date for the prices breaks to expires...something like a coupon expiring?

You know, xsell is like "Also Purchased" but you can manually assign certain products to show up with other products

It doesnt have any dates. And the price breaks dont have any dates either. I'm thinking maybe its something to do with the configure.php file. It worked fine before I moved the site to the new server, but now something strange is happenning.

Do you have a backup copy of the site files...not database, but the actual php files? If you do then just upload them as long as you haven't made any changes to the files on your new server. If you upload a backup copy of the database then you will loose any new information that was saved in the db since you uploaded to new server such as customer & order info.

If you do that let us know if it solves the problem.

I installed the xsell contribution & the followed the updates to the last update. It works half way. I see the cross sells in the admin's side just fine & they save. The only thing is that when I view the catalog it doesn't show, but 1 cross sell item for each main item.

I selected 1 cross sell for item in the same category as the main item & 1 item in a different category. It only shows the item in the same category, but not the other items in the other categories. If I stop the cross sell of items in the same category it still will not show the items in the other categories.

Any idea on why this is like this?

It will only display the 1 cross sell item in the shopping cart page too.

Sorry for the late reply, I took the weekend off. :D

I dont know why this is happening to your xsell, except try looking in the maximum values in the configuration and see what it says for "also purchased". I know it takes it's values from there and then displays them randomly. If you keep the number high, it should display all.

I figure my problem is that xsell interfears somehow with SPPC. I need to try to get to the bottom of that one because I need both.

I just got my answer for the xsell and SPPC problem which might help you as well. When the product did not have a price or min quantity for my groups entered in, it would not show up on xsell. I dont know if you have SPPC setup, but make sure the prices are all there for the products that are not showing up.

I got my problems resolve over the weekend too. I just deleted everything & tried it again & works perfectly. I must have done something wrong the first time. I started a thread dealing with this x-sell...read it & see if you might be able to help me with this new problem.

Webstera, I had the same problem when I made changes thru the Admin section of oscommerce (it seem to be really unstable???). Now, I make changes directly thru the File Manager at my website host and have no problems. My recommendation would be not to make any changes in the Administration section of oscommerce other than adding products.
