help setting up usps shipping module

so i followed the info in the knowledge base but i keep getting the message

 

United States Postal Service

An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations.

If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner.

 

 

on checkout.. so can someone walk me though what i need todo to set it up properly? or maybe if htere is a somthing else cuaseing this?

You have to go first to USPS website and find Webtools.

Then register your store with them, they will give you an ID.

You have to input that ID in the oscom back-end (Shipping modules).

Then call USPS and they will move you to Production server.

i already had an ID and tried doing hte online registration but they wanted to know a bunch of info i didnt know and told me i didnt need thatto use oscommerce

 

shouldnt the test server atleast be working for me though?

Yes, it should.

I suggest you call them again and get another rep. or a supervisor.

All the info they need is in the registration form, they didn't ask anything to me.

Hello,

 

I have been having the same problem with the USPS shipping. I have noticed a lot of people on these forums that are having problems and others that say it works perfectly for them. I have also been keeping an eye out to see if anyone has offered any new solutions.

 

I did have everything set up correctly. I did check all of that since a few people were able to have this problem solved quickly due to a forgotten step.

 

Finally, the USPS shipping is working for me. The ONLY thing that I changed was that I finally got SSL for my site. I am wondering now if maybe the difference between all of those people who had this working and those who didn't is whether or not they use SSL.

 

Of course, this is just a theory since it is what seems to have changed it for me.
