duplicate users

I am having a problem with people that want ot register2 times using the same e-mail.

 

and they are getting a bad error :

 

1054 - Unknown column 'purchased_without_account' in 'field list'

select customers_id, customers_email_address, purchased_without_account from customers where customers_email_address = '[email protected]'

[TEP STOP]

 

I was wandering how i can catch this error and display "(that E-mail address is allready in use, Please use another one or Click her if you have forgotten your Password)"
