Urgent: Payments received but no order showing

The last 2 orders to come in show no products ordered. Paypal payment is received and customer information is there but no invoice/packing slip print option. No indication of what the customer ordered. I did a test purchase myself and everything worked fine.

 

How do I find out how the customer is completing the order process without generating information as to what they ordered?

I had this exact same problem.

 

What has happened, is that your customer has completed checkout and been directed to Paypal to make the payment. After the payment has been made, your customer has not returned to your site, which if they would have done so, it would have created the invoice and order details.

Thanks Ben, that will certainly help one way or another. I'm not understanding how to actually install the Paypal IPN module. Is that something a Paypal merchant services rep might help me with? Otherwise I have a programmer guy I can pay to do it.

It is very easy to do. Just upload the contents of the contribution to your server, go to admin->modules and install it, then edit it so it has your paypal email address, set it to live and it should work for you.

Ok. I stalled the Paypal IPN module and activated it and added my paypal email addy. This gave me an additional payment option of "Paypal (credit/debit card)" or something close. So now I have this and just plain Paypal (which is all I had before) as the 2 payment options. Is this what I'm supposed to see?

 

When I took the new option (Paypal (credit/debit card), I was taken here: https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr

 

Obviously that couldn't be right.

 

Given the above, can anyone tell me what I did wrong?

did you set the module to "Production" and not "Test"?

I had the Gateway Server set to "testing" and not "live". I switched it to live and it seems to work fine now. Thanks a lot to everybody who helped!
